The Barwon Grove Foundation was established on 12th February, 2015 as a charitable institution whose main purpose is to provide benevolent relief in the form of rental accommodation services and of day to day activities to relieve the suffering of loneliness, helplessness, distress, and disability.
Our Foundation meets the legal meaning of “charity” as prescribed in the Charities Act 2013. It is a not-for-profit incorporated entity governed by specific rules, and is an approved charity with the Australian Charities & Not-For-Profit Commission and the Australian Taxation Office, with deductible gift recipient status. Monetary gifts to our foundation of $2 or more are tax deductible.
The foundation was formed by a group of people predominantly from Ocean Grove, Barwon Heads and Wallington. Whilst working on a foodbank project run by the Lions Club of Ocean Grove Barwon Heads Inc it became obvious that the recipients of food related charity were also in need of assistance with housing and other welfare, particularly the aged people in the local community.
A working committee was established, and it was decided that a purpose driven entity that could attract tax deductible funding from local community members, businesses and other charitable organisations was the appropriate course.
